Coral Leisure Arklow is White Flag Winner… Again
Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow (Arklow's local swimming pool) has yet again received the white flag award.
The ILAM White Flag Award is the quality mark that all leisure facilities must strive to achieve.
The White Flag Award highlights to your customers, staff and the general public that your organisation is committed to achieving the highest standards of quality in the Leisure Industry. Its basically telling you, the customer, that the centre is clean, the floors in the changing rooms to the water in the pool. It also means the centre is being operated to the best possible standard and adhering to the relevant legislation.
Launched in 2001, the White Flag Award is an independently audited award, recognised throughout the Leisure Industry, endorsed by Fáilte Ireland and the Irish Hotels Federation.
The Arklow pool has been a regular recipient of the award. ‘ We are committed to maintaining the highest possible standard in the centre The fact that the centre is more than 10 years old means we have to try a little harder at times’ says Elaine Fitzgerald, Operations Manager who has been with the pool since it opened in 1999.
The pool employs upwards of 25 staff and is a focal point for many sectors of the community. The other wing of the operation is the Sports Centre situated literally across the road on Seaview Avenue. Here you can play soccer, basketball squash and racquetball to name but a few. Its home to the very successful Cobra Gymnastics Club. The studio at Coral Leisure (part of the sports centre) is home to Irish Dancing, Theatre and Drama and modern dance a well as spinning (exercise on bikes to music) and step aerobics.
Coral Leisure are proud to be managing the facilities in Arklow. They are very much aware of the need for community involvement. It is so important for everyone to get involved in some activity not just for his or her health and well-being but for the continued success of the centre. In the times we live in it cannot be overstated.
